The Trinity Term 2008 started with fog and icy weather! Let’s hope it warms up quickly.
This year’s Newsletter has gone to the printers and copies should be posted out during the second week of May.
It contains full details of the forthcoming events this year – OD sporting events, reunions, Summer Lunch and AGM,
the Welsh Dinner and the House of Lords Reception. Do also take a few minutes to read the articles about the
Commemoration Plaque which has been installed in St George’s Memorial Chapel, Ypres and Rob Kinder’s trip to
Outer Mongolia in a Morris Minor. If we have your e-mail address on file, I’ll send you a message when it is
available to download from this site. This year it will be divided up into individual pages to make down-loading
much easier. Please do keep sending us your news as we have already begun compiling next year’s Newsletter!
ODs are always welcome at Commem which is on Saturday, 24th May this year. The annual OD Cricket v the School 1st XI
starts at 11.30am on Big Field and spectators are very welcome. The cricket will be suspended temporarily at 1.00pm
when the Royal Air Force Parachute Display Team (The Falcons) comes in to land! Academic displays are available to
view from 2.00pm and the Charity Fair runs from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Meantime, the ODs are playing the School at
Water Polo at 3.00pm. Unfortunately, due to space constraints, ODs are requested not to attend the Prize-Giving and Speeches in the marquee.
If you are interested in becoming a Year Rep, please do let me know. It shouldn’t be an onerous task, but will
involve networking from time to time, keeping in touch with your peer-group and organizing (with help) occasional re-unions
– 10 years, 20 years, etc since leaving.
Please do feel free to support any of the many sporting fixtures which take place each week, both home and away.
They are too many to list here, but details can be found on the Senior School pages of
www.deanclose.org.uk and following the left-hand menu bar to News and Information,
and then The Month Ahead.
